Even though I try to limit my time on technological devices, I’ve gotta say podcasts have become one of my all-time favorite pastimes! Not only are there hundreds of options to choose from on any topic you could possibly think of, but it’s a great way to use your technology to further your education and knowledge, as well as inspire creativity.

Here are twelve of the top-rated podcasts for 2019, all of which focus on promoting knowledge of health, introducing wellness methods to balance us, or help us get to know our vegan food scene just a bit better.

While we all just adore that wonderful nutrition research that goes along with a vegan diet, how about simply taking a quick listen to Nutrition Facts with Dr. Greger?

This podcast is the perfect go-to for new and veteran vegans and plant-based eaters alike. Founder of NutritionFacts.org and author of How Not to Die and the most recently published How Not to Diet, Michael Greger, M.D. FACLM is a pioneering force in the health world, especially when it comes to new and innovative methods of relating to our food. Greger focuses on exploring “evidence-based nutrition to add years to our life and life to our years,” in this fact-filled podcast.

2. Soul on Fire

Alright, you may be skeptical about a podcast hosted by someone calling themselves the “Balanced Blonde,” yet Jordan Younger (aka. the Balanced Blonde) has become wildly popular for her promotion and education around wellness and lifestyle. Leaving grad school for full-time blogging, Younger turned to the online community to enrich her soul and share her life. After falling ill with Lyme Disease in 2017, Younger shared her journey to healing with “radical self-care, alternative healing treatments, and holistic medicine.”

Looking for that perfect, well-rounded, educational, inspiring, and body-positive podcast?

Created and hosted by Rebecca Scritchfield, “a well-being coach, registered dietitian nutritionist, ACSM certified exercise physiologist, and author of the book, Body Kindness: Transform your health from the inside out and never say diet again,” this podcast promotes body health instead of societal beauty standards around appearance. Basically, it’s exactly what we all need to start changing the way we relate to our bodies and our nutrition! Scritchfield has helped “people reject diets and body shame to create a better life with workable, interesting self-care goals to fit [an] individual’s needs and preferences, not society’s unrealistic weigh and beauty standards.

In her podcast, Scritchfield promotes kindness to your body by talking to “people from all walks of life about their journey to a better wellbeing” including topics that range “from food to family to sex.” Scritchfield believes that changing habits isn’t easy, “but when your goals come from a place of kindness you really can become your healthiest and happiest self.”

Hosted by Monique Koch, this podcast will walk you through the ins and outs of a vegan lifestyle. Koch promotes this podcast for those that fall under four key ingredients for vegan lifestyle success:

Even though the Food for Thought podcast is the highlight, one reason I included this one on the list is that the podcast is only the tip of the iceberg for environmental, wellness, and nutrition resources when it comes to Collen Patrick-Goudreau.

Patrick-Goudreau lives by a compassionate philosophy and seeks to propel “plant-based eating into the mainstream and forever [change] how we regard animals.” She’s a “recognized expert and thought leader on the culinary, social, ethical, and practical aspects of living compassionately and healthfully” and through this Patrick-Goudreau has created a smorgasbord of resources from her Food for Thought podcast (along with four others!) to her 30-day vegan challenge proposal to her blog to her list of bestselling books including The Joy of Vegan BakingThe Vegan TableColor Me VeganVegan’s Daily CompanionOn Being Vegan, and The 30-Day Vegan Challenge.

You know what you’re getting into when you sign up to listen to the No-Bullsh!t Vegan Podcast. It’s all right there in the name!

Hosted by Karina Inkster, a badass vegan fitness coach and author with a background in health and aging, this podcast hopes to “bust the many myths inside the vegan world” by utilizing “scientific truths, not made-up facts.” Umh, yes, please! This podcast is exactly what the vegan community needs! From those chaotic “ask me anything” podcasts to the specific topic sessions, such as episode 054 featuring Registered Dietitian Lauren McNeill speaking on vegan protein and omega-3 fatty acids, this podcast has got it all!

9. Meatless

Kennedy takes the listener on an in-depth exploration of the highly controversial topic of eating animal products.
