State Rep. Dan Ugaste, R-Geneva, is hosting a fall food drive in partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
Food items will be collected at his district office at 2325 Dean Street, Suite 800, St. Charles, from Oct. 24 to Nov. 15.
Donations will be given to Northern Illinois Food Bank’s depository in Geneva, which provides food for half a million people each year. While all non-perishable food items will be accepted, the food bank is most in need of fruits and vegetables, canned fruit, low sodium canned vegetables, dry whole beans, lentils, canned chicken, canned tuna, all natural peanut butter, whole grain cereal, oatmeal, whole grain pastas, brown rice, breakfast drink mix, low sodium pasta sauces, low sodium soups, spices and seasonings.
Glass containers cannot be accepted.
Rep. Ugaste’s fall food drive will help Northern Illinois Food Bank move one step closer to their goal of solving hunger.
“I have seen how generous our community is with giving to those in need, and this food drive will help our neighbors at Northern Illinois Food Bank provide the necessary food and supplies so that no one has to go hungry,” Ugaste said in a news release from his office. “Ensuring families and children have access to nutritious meals is important, especially with the colder months approaching. Just last year, the food bank provided more than 69 million meals to people in our community, and I hope this drive will help them provide even more meals to those in need.”
Donations will be accepted at the Representative’s district office during business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
Please contact Rep. Ugaste’s district office at 630-797-5530 before dropping off food items.
