B J’s Health Food Store isn’t a pharmacy or a grocery store. It’s an all-natural health store.
The health store has been in business since 1976. Now, owner Pam Hall runs the store after her mother, Angie Hall, passed it on to her.
“We’re not a chain,” Hall said.
Her store products can’t be found at just any grocery store, making it a unique asset in downtown Sumter.
Hall plans to keep the business running and in the family with her daughter, Jamie Rogers, being the next owner.
“We sell things for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, weight loss supplements ” Rogers said. “A big thing now is collagen.”
The health store has a variety of herbal supplements, gluten-free foods, vegetarian foods, body building supplements, 100% pure CBD oil, kratom and more.
They also sell testosterone boosters and an alternative to Viagra.
“Do you know how much I sell that stuff?” Hall said. “It is unbelievable.”
Both mother and daughter agreed the store’s secret to success is their loyal customers and having a vast knowledge of the products they’ve been selling for years.
B J’s Health Food Store is open Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
