The new coronavirus has changed life for all of us. Local businesses have taken a huge economic hit, but communities are finding creative ways to support the establishments they know and love.

In an effort to help local businesses in our communities stay connected and succeed, Patch will shine a light on some of them through a series of Q&A articles during this time.

Manual Medicine Spine & Sports Physical Therapy is one of the businesses in town facing struggles during the coronavirus. You can lend your support by reading more about the company, below, and by contacting them here.

Tell us about your business and its history in your town.

Manual Medicine Spine & Sports Physical Therapy was opened in 2016 to provide natural solutions for pain and stiffness that has not responded to traditional medicine or therapy. It’s also for people who want to find faster results for the time, effort and resources they invest.

As insurance plans continue to change and offer fewer choices, co-pays are higher and it takes longer to get the care you need. Some of the people I’ve worked with have waited for weeks or even years to get treatment — and then only to be disappointed.

I’ve found ways to help moms and dads, homemakers and business owners, olympians and weekend warriors to get past the pain, stiffness or numbness tying them down. I love to help people discover what is wrong, to know what options are available and enable them to make informed healthcare decisions. I have specialty training and years of success helping people find rest when sleeping, as well as finding the spots that are stiff, hurt or numb (which others have missed). I love to help people who are frustrated trying to find a way to get back on the road towards hope — hope for living life with the families we love, the activities we cherish and the freedom of independence.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

Our business has definitely slowed down because people have been quarantined and are not comfortable or unable to avail our in-person services.

Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine, Manual Medicine Spine & Sports PT has been helping thousands of people to get rid of their neck pain, back pain, knee pain or any other problems from the comfort of their home by offering TeleRehab and virtual sessions. We offer free 20-minute phone consultations so we can better help you get relief from pain and get back to being active and mobile doing the things you love — whether it’s walking, gardening, cycling or working for hours from your dining table at home without pain.

How can local customers support you now and in the future?

We are now offering virtual TeleRehab physical therapy consults. We would be more than happy to start with a free 20-minute phone consultation with anyone who is suffering at home from neck pain, back pain, sciatica, hip pain, knee pain or any other orthopedic problems so we can find out more about your problem and help you further.

Please refer your friends, colleagues and family members to us and spread the word about our virtual TeleRehab consults and free telephone consultations.

We specialize in getting people back to being active, mobile and free from pain so that they can get back to living their lives and doing the things they love to do.

Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?

The beauty of this time is that we are in control of our own decisions and choices and most of us now have the time to take care of ourselves, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. This is definitely a difficult time for people to access the exact and specific healthcare that they need because many businesses are closed. On top of that, high levels of a hormone called cortisol is released into our body by stress and anxiety especially during this pandemic because of the news, social media, changing routines at home, kids now at home and parents having to work their routines around school, online classes, and their own jobs.

Our mission is to meet expectations of each and every client at multiple aspects of their life not just physically, so that they can get back to doing the things they love and living their life the way they want to. Taking care of yourself leads to happiness — it shines in your soul and spirit. Your loved ones, your friends and colleagues will all see it and enjoy the new you!

Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?

Yes! We are offering a limited number of free 20-minute telephone consultations based on availability (first come first serve basis). There are only eight free telephone consultations per week, so apply for them soon. We are also offering virtual TeleRehab consultations.

Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?

Yes, I just ordered pizza from Timber Pizza Company in Petworth. Tasty and fab — you must try it and they offer curbside pickup. Also, our community farmer’s markets in DC. To be honest, all the amazing restaurants — let’s support them if we can afford to, so they can support their staff and employees and stay open.
