The West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe doesn’t fit one single mold. Instead, it’s a little bit of many things all rolled into one. Most people know it first as a retail store, and that is what it started as (I remember going there when I was young since we lived close by). There are many great farmers markets in our area, but the West Allis Farmers’ Market feels like the granddaddy of them all. Not only is it the largest open-air market in our area, it’s also been in operation for 101 years. From May to November, farmers, makers and local food truck operators set up shop on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons (and occasionally during other special events).
