Wisconsin (WQOW) – Two Republican lawmakers are proposing a new bill that would allow alternative health care practitioners to operate legally in Wisconsin.

The bill would cover people like homeopaths, herbalists and nutritional consultants.

The authors, Sen. Tom Tiffany (R-Minocqua) and Rep. Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma), say current law is written so broadly these workers could be criminally charged for practicing a medical occupation without a license even though they don’t offer medical services.

They say the bill would clean up the language and offer more options to people seeking natural options to improve their health.

If passed, Wisconsin would become the 11th state to have such a law on the books.
