Kerala Minister for Agriculture VS Sunil Kumar withdrew from inaugurating a ‘natural healing’ centre in Thrissur following complaints against the legitimacy of the institution’s founder.

The centre which is called ‘Vaidakoodaram’ was inaugurated on Thursday, June 6, in Viyyur, Thrissur. However, Sunil Kumar who was to inaugurate the institution excused himself at the last moment.

“There were many complaints raised against  Ustad Hamsa Vaidyar, the chief healer and founder of the institute and his PhD qualification. Several people have said that the field in which he took his PhD does not exist. So I cannot attend the function without verifying this,” Sunil Kumar told TNM.

The minister however clarified that he was fully supportive of traditional healing and natural medicine.

Ustad Hamsa Vaidyar, chief healer and founder of ‘Viadyakoodaram’, is a PhD holder in Plansopathy, according to an online notice by the centre. A simple search on google reveals zero results for plansopathy in any field, let alone medicine.

The online leaflet on the centre’s inauguration also mentions two other names – Jackson Chungath – founder of bone alignment therapy and Siyuras, who the leaflet claims is an ‘aqueipuncherist’.

The centre provides treatment by integrating homeopathy, traditional holistic healing, naturopathy and German, Korean and Chinese healing.

The centre claims to provide treatment for patients suffering from heart blocks, diabetes. increased creatinine levels, back pain, slip disk, lock jaw, scoliosis, paralysis from falls, bent fingers, autism, vertigo, cerebral palsy, obesity, varicose vein, numbness and tingling of limbs, auto immune diseases, nose polyps, fibroids, uterus issues, excessive bleeding, kidney stones and a host of other ailments, according to the leaflet.
