Natural and organic grocer Earth Fare is closing its doors and laying off 3,000 employees. The Asheville, N.C.-based retailer has 50 stores in 10 states. A spokeswoman for Earth Fare said the
stores are expected to be shut by the end of February. The company hasn’t filed for bankruptcy, she said. Just over a year ago, the company opened its 50th store and unveiled what it called
“aggressive goals for growth” including opening up 50 more stores over the next five years.
